TEHRAN -- Iranian distributer Noori Pictures has sold “Nahid” to companies from Europe and Latin America.

Noori Pictures, which also has an office in Paris, has signed agreements with StraDa Film from Greece, Caramel Film from Spain, Cineworx from Switzerland, Tucuman Films from Brazil and Cineplex from Colombia, Screen Daily reported on Tuesday.

The film, which is currently competing in the Un Certain Regard section at the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival, was previously sold to France’s Memento Films.

Companies from UK, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Argentina, Turkey, Chile and Uruguay are negotiating with Noori Pictures to obtain the rights to the film.

“Nahid”, the debut film of the promising young Iranian filmmaker Ida Panahandeh, tells the story of an Iranian woman who has failed in her first marriage and is unable to express her love for the second time due to social conditions, while she is trying to gain custody of her son after the divorce.

Pejman Bazeghi, Sareh Bayat and Navid Mohammadzadeh are the main members of the cast.
